Kushenol A is a natural product extracted from the Chinese herb Kushen. It is a white or off-white powder that has a molecular weight of 223.29 and consists of a hydroxyl group, three methoxy groups, and one methyl group. Kushenol A has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TNFα, and MCP-1. This compound also has potent inhibitory activity against LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells with an IC50 value of 0.2 µM.
Kushenol A is composed of several chemical structures including chlorogenic acids and plant families such as the Rosaceae family (which includes apples). Kushenol A has been found to be effective against infectious diseases such as listeriosis and SARS coronavirus infection in mice. This compound may be effective
