Lanperisone hydrochloride is a pyridinium derivative with a high affinity for the bladder and is used to treat bladder disorders, such as interstitial cystitis. Lanperisone hydrochloride has been shown to be effective in vivo and in vitro models of reactive bladder disease. It acts by inhibiting the synthesis of fatty acids, which are involved in inflammation and oxidative stress. Lanperisone hydrochloride also has anticancer properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cell proliferation. It has a low incidence of adverse effects and appears to be safe for long-term use.
