Product Information

Name:
(Leu16)-Amyloid b-Protein (16-19)
Synonyms:
  • H-Leu-Leu-Val-Phe-OH
Description:

(Leu16)-Amyloid b-Protein (16-19) is the carboxyl-terminal peptide of amyloid b protein, a component of the amyloid plaques that are found in Alzheimer's disease. The sequence is found in the blood and cerebrospinal fluid of healthy individuals as well as those with Alzheimer's disease. The peptide is a tetrapeptide that is cleaved from the full length protein by hydrogenolysis. This peptide can also be synthesized by condensation of an activated amino group and an esterified l-phenylalanine. The carboxyl group at position 16 can be removed using carbodiimide to produce a lysine residue.
