Leu-Valorphin-Arg H-Leu-Val-Val-Tyr-Pro-Trp-Thr-Gln-Arg-OH is a peptide hormone that binds to the leucine vasopressin receptor. It is a synthetic peptide with sequence homology to human and rat vasopressin. Leu-Valorphin has been shown to bind to cytosolic proteins in tissue samples, as well as plasma proteins in blood. The binding of Leu Valorphin has been shown to inhibit cell function in tissues and cells in culture experiments. Mass spectrometric analysis suggests that the molecular target of Leu Valorphin is the leucine vasopressin receptor, which may be due to its high affinity for this receptor.
