Latanoprost lactonediol is a prostaglandin derivative that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of bimatoprost and travaprost. Latanoprost lactonediol has been shown to be effective for the treatment of glaucoma, ocular hypertension, and other diseases related to increased intraocular pressure. This drug also has been shown to be effective for the treatment of hypotension caused by septic shock. The chemical process for latanoprost lactonediol is similar to that of bimatoprost and travaprost.
