Description:

Lead(II) methanesulfonate solution is a metal surface treatment agent that has been investigated as an alternative to hydrochloric acid. The metal surface is treated by the reaction of lead ions with sulfonic acids in the presence of sodium carbonate, 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfide and cationic surfactants. This process generates a solution containing lead sulfonates, which are crystalline in structure. The solution is stable at pH values below 7 and can be used for corrosion protection and energy efficiency.
