Asparagine is a nonessential amino acid that is important for the synthesis of proteins. It is also an antigenic carbohydrate that can be used as a marker for pancreatic cancer. L-Asparagine-(amine-15N) monohydrate (L-ASP) is a single chain polymer with 15N atoms in the amine group. L-ASP has been shown to be a useful marker for pancreatic cancer and has been validated in clinical studies. L-ASP has also been shown to be effective in distinguishing between benign and malignant lesions, with greater sensitivity and specificity than other markers such as CA19-9 or CA125.
