L-lactic acid is a naturally occurring compound that is produced by the human body during periods of intense exercise or when carbohydrate intake is insufficient. It has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy in vitro and in vivo, specifically against multivariate logistic regression. L-Lactic acid inhibits bacterial growth by causing changes in the mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibiting glycolysis. It has also been shown to be effective against squamous carcinomas and wild-type strains of bacteria. L-Lactic acid inhibits the transcriptional regulation of genes related to energy metabolism, including lactate dehydrogenase and citrate synthase, which are involved in anaerobic respiration.
