Description:

3-(Methylthio)phenyl isocyanate (MTPI) is a photopolymerization reagent that has been used for the synthesis of polyesters, polyurethanes, and polyacrylates. It is a chain transfer agent that can be used to produce functionalized polymers. This compound has also been used in the manufacture of natural products such as nicotine and enantiomers. MTPI has been shown to undergo sequential use, where it first reacts with one polymer and then attaches to another polymer in order to form an alternating pattern of two different polymers.
