Description:
8-Methylquinolin-4-ol is an intermediate in the synthesis of simeprevir. It can be used in the preparation of mixtures of benzyl and alkoxy intermediates, which are unbranched and unsubstituted. 8-Methylquinolin-4-ol is also a deprotecting agent that can be used to remove protecting groups from thioamide compounds. It has been shown to have dehydrogenating properties as well.
