2-Methyl-4-heptafluoroisopropylaniline is a nitro derivative of the insecticide chlorantraniliprole. It is used as a highly selective, long-lasting, and persistent insecticide for control of lepidopteran pests. 2-Methyl-4-heptafluoroisopropylaniline has been shown to be effective against the larvae of many species of Lepidoptera, including codling moth, grapevine moth, and plum curculio. It has also been shown to be active against other insects such as the Colorado beetle. 2-Methyl-4-heptafluoroisopropylaniline reacts with thionyl chloride in a reaction system to produce a thioether which is then reacted with potassium chloride to form a chloro compound that can be detected by ultraviolet (UV) light at a wavelength of 365 nm. This insecticide also inhibits ryanodine
