Product Information

Name:
Methyl 4,4,4-trifluoroacetoacetate
Synonyms:
  • Methyl 4,4,4-trifluoro-3-oxobutanoate
Description:

Methyl 4,4,4-trifluoroacetoacetate is a cyanoalkyl compound that has been shown to be unstable at room temperature and decomposes rapidly in the presence of oxygen. It can be used as an organic solvent for pyridine compounds and radiation. Methyl 4,4,4-trifluoroacetoacetate also has the ability to polymerize spontaneously into a film. The film can then be patterned with hydrochloric acid or silicon and heated to induce crystallization. This process results in an asymmetric synthesis of polymers.
