Methyl 2,4-difluorobenzoate is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that binds to the hydroxyl group of tyrosine. Methyl 2,4-difluorobenzoate inhibits the activity of the enzyme by occupying its active site and blocking the ATP binding site. The methyl 2,4-difluorobenzoate is nucleophilic because it reacts with anions and has a redox potential. It is also a ligand that can bind to metal ions in solution. The chemical reaction rate of methyl 2,4-difluorobenzoate is increased by adding nonpolar solvents and halogens. This compound also reacts with electolysis, which produces anions. Methyl 2,4-difluorobenzoate can be used as a molecular orbital ligand for transition metals such as palladium (Pd).
