Description:

5-Methyl-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester is a surfactant that is used in the production of antibacterial drugs. It has been shown to have an antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Enterococcus faecalis. The mechanism of action is not well understood but may be related to its protonation properties or its ability to accelerate the release of aminocoumarin from coumarin. 5-Methyl-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester has been synthesized using acrylonitrile as a raw material.
