MeOSuc-Ala-Ala-Pro-Val-pNA is a fluorescent probe that can be used in vitro to detect the presence of serine proteases. It is composed of four amino acids, including an acetate extract and a fluorescence probe, which are linked to alanine residues on the peptide backbone. The reactive site of this peptide has been identified as being located at the lysine residues. This probe has been shown to be reactive with wild-type mice but not with collagenase or subtilisin. MeOSuc-Ala-Ala-Pro-Val-pNA also specifically reacts with cardiac tissue in vivo and not in vitro.
