Description:

3-(Morpholin-4-ylsulfonyl)aniline (MSAA) is a molecule that interacts with the alveolar macrophages and fluoresces when it is exposed to UV light. MSAA has been shown to inhibit viral replication in porcine cells, and this inhibition was found to be dose dependent. The primary target of MSAA appears to be a protein called NS3 helicase that is involved in the replication of RNA viruses. In addition, MSAA has been shown to inhibit the influenza virus H1N1pdm09 in an experimental setting. This drug may have therapeutic potential for treatments for lung disease due to its ability to inhibit viral replication and its anti-inflammatory properties.
