5-Methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carbaldehyde is a chromophore that can be used as an electrochemical probe. It has been shown to be water soluble and insoluble in organic solvents. The crystal x-ray diffraction pattern of 5-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carbaldehyde shows the presence of nitrogen atoms and hydrogen bonding interactions, which are due to the molecule’s homochiral nature. Mononuclear x-ray crystal structures have been obtained for 5-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carbaldehyde, which contain two molecules per asymmetric unit. The XRD data collected from these crystals show a variety of x ray reflections, including those from the fluorite type (a common type of crystalline mineral).
