Description:
1-Methyl-5-oxopyrrolidine-3-carboxylic acid (1MOP) is an efficient, reductive lactam synthesis that has been used to synthesize a number of bicyclic compounds. The cyclization of 1MOP can be achieved through the use of catalysts such as hydrogen gas and palladium on carbon. This lactam has shown an antagonistic activity against a number of bacterial strains, including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
