Product Information
- Propanoic acid, 2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-
2-(2-Methoxyphenoxy)propanoic acid is a metabolite of propionic acid. It is produced by the fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium and can be chemically synthesized from propionic acid. This compound has been shown to have inhibitory effects on cultures of basidiomycetes, which may result from its ability to cleave ether bonds in lignin models. 2-(2-Methoxyphenoxy)propanoic acid also has an effect on the metabolic pathway for ethanol production by inhibiting the conversion of glucose to acetyl-CoA, which is necessary for cell growth.
