Product Information
Methyl 4,5-bis(chloromethyl)thiophene-2-carboxylate (MCC) is a formic acid derivative that is used in the synthesis of other chemicals. MCC reacts with primary amines to produce formamide and hydrogen peroxide. It is also capable of reacting with nitrogen to produce formic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The dehydration reaction produces formaldehyde and hydrogen peroxide. Nitrogen can be substituted for sulfur to produce methyl 5-(chloromethyl)thiophene-2-sulfonate (CMT). This substance can be oxidized by air or oxygen to produce formaldehyde and hydrogen peroxide.
