Description:
(1-Methyl-1H-indol-4-yl)methanol is a nitroalkane that can be used for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. Wittig reaction with malonate and benzylic acid provides a 1,2,3-triazole ring. The tricyclic structure is obtained by intramolecular formylation of diethyl malonate and ethyl diazoacetate. Nitro group is introduced to indole derivative by nitration or diazotization.
