Product Information
- 1H-indole-5-carboxaldehyde, 1-methyl-
1-Methyl-1H-indole-5-carbaldehyde is a calcium antagonist that binds to the calcium channel and inhibits the influx of calcium ions. It has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo, as well as apoptosis in cells. The inhibition of cell growth by 1-methyl-1H-indole-5-carbaldehyde is mediated by formylation of histones and DNA fragmentation. This agent also has a cytotoxic potency with an IC50 of 10 nM against lung cancer cells, which are induced by colchicine. 1-Methyl-1H-indole-5-carbaldehyde is an inhibitor of nicotine acetylcholine receptor function, which may be due to its ability to disrupt the assembly of alpha4beta2 nicotinic receptors on the surface of muscle cells.
