Product Information

Name:
(1-Methyl-1H-indol-6-yl)methanol
Synonyms:
  • 1H-Indole-6-methanol, 1-methyl-
Description:

The 1-Methyl-1H-indol-6-yl)methanol (MIEM) is a screening compound that has been shown to inhibit the activity of choline kinase. It can be used as an inhibitor in the optimization of pharmaceuticals that are currently being developed. MIEM is also able to interfere with the interaction between trypanosomes and their hosts, which may lead to trypanocidal activity. This molecule has been shown to have high trypanocidal activity against Trypanosoma brucei, T. congolense, and T. vivax at low concentrations. MIEM also has a high degree of acceptance by trypomastigotes and is not toxic to mammalian cells, making it a good candidate for further research into anti-trypanosomal drugs.
