Product Information
- 5-Amino-2-methylbenzofuran
- 5-Benzofuranamine, 2-Methyl-
2-Methyl-1-benzofuran-5-amine hydrochloride is a carboxylic acid that inhibits the enzyme class fxa. It is used as a reagent in the synthesis of other compounds and has been shown to be an inhibitor of arylsulfonamide, diimidazole and carboxylic acids. 2-Methyl-1-benzofuran-5-amine hydrochloride binds to the guanidine nitrogen on the enzyme, which prevents the formation of reactive intermediates and stabilizes the enzyme by forming hydrogen bonds with amino acid residues. This inhibition causes a decrease in activity and an increase in Km for substrate binding. 2-Methyl-1-benzofuran-5-amine hydrochloride also has xray crystallography studies that show that it has pharmacophore similarity to benzamidine.
