Description

2-Methyl-2-morpholin-4-ylpropan-1-amine carbonate (DMPX) is an opioid receptor antagonist that blocks the effects of opioids. DMPX has a high affinity for the opioid receptors, with a binding constant of about 100 times higher than naloxone. It also has a high affinity for α2 adrenergic receptors and is used in clinical chemistry to measure hemoglobin concentrations. DMPX is not active at ambient temperatures but becomes active at physiological body temperature, which allows it to be injected into the body intravenously or subcutaneously. This drug may have antidepressant effects by preventing the uptake of noradrenaline and dopamine in the brain, although it can cause depression when administered at doses above 10 mg/kg.
