1-[2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)ethyl]piperazine is a potent inhibitor of alpha-glucosidase that is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It has been shown to inhibit acarbose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor and piperazine derivatives. 1-[2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)ethyl]piperazine also has inhibitory activity against pancreatic α-amylase and maltase.
