- Ethanimidamide, 2-(4-Methoxyphenoxy)-
2-(4-Methoxyphenoxy)ethanimidamide is a drug that has affinity for isoforms of the histamine H1 receptor. It functions as an antiallergic agent by inhibiting the release of mast cells, which are responsible for releasing histamine. 2-(4-Methoxyphenoxy)ethanimidamide also has antiinflammatory properties and can be used to treat anaphylaxis. This drug is not orally bioavailable and must be administered through injection or inhalation. It is also not very water soluble and can only be given intravenously or intramuscularly, due to its high hydrophobicity. 2-(4-Methoxyphenoxy)ethanimidamide has a pharmacological profile that includes effects on cellular function, including inhibition of cellular proliferation and protein synthesis in vitro.
