3-Methoxy-4-(pentyloxy)benzoic acid is a natural product that has been shown to have antimicrobial properties. It has been extracted from propolis using an ultrasound assisted extraction technique. The yield of the extract was found to be 2.3% with a purity of 98%. 3-Methoxy-4-(pentyloxy)benzoic acid has also been shown to have antimicrobial activity against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, as well as fungi. The extracts are also thought to have anti-inflammatory properties.
