1-Methyl-4-nitro-1H-pyrazole is a nitro compound with the molecular formula CHNO. It has a molecular weight of 108.09 and a melting point of -5°C. 1-Methyl-4-nitro-1H-pyrazole is a colorless, crystalline solid that is stable in air but decomposes in water. This compound has been shown to have low toxicity to mammals and birds and can be used as an insecticide or herbicide. The solubility data for this compound is as follows: insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, acetone, ethyl ether, benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride and hexane. 1Methyl-4-nitro-1H-pyrazole also has vibrational frequencies at 825 cm"¹ which correspond to its nucleophilic character.
