3-(Methylamino)butanoic acid hydrochloride (3MBAA) is a chemical compound used in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It is an aminotransferase inhibitor that blocks the synthesis of aspartate and alanine, which are important for cell growth. 3MBAA has been shown to be effective against pediatric lymphoblastic leukemia, although it is not active against other forms of cancer such as those of the liver or hepatitis. The use of 3MBAA should be avoided in patients with pre-existing liver or kidney disease.
