Description

1-Methyl-1H-benzimidazol-6-amine is a benzimidazole derivative that is used as an anthelmintic. It has been shown to have a potent inhibitory effect on the growth of nematodes and other parasitic worms in vitro, which are sensitive to formic acid and nitro groups. 1-Methyl-1H-benzimidazol-6-amine also has strong solvating properties, which allow it to be used as a solvent for many organic compounds. 1-Methyl-1H-benzimidazol-6-amine emits light when it reacts with formic acid and pyridine, which means that it can be used in fluorescence emission spectroscopy (FES) or fluorescence transfer spectroscopy (FTS).
