3-[(4-Methylphenyl)amino]cyclohex-2-en-1-one is a tetronic acid that contains a furan ring. The tetronic acid is formed by the condensation of two molecules of formaldehyde and one molecule of aminoethanol with elimination of water. The molecular weight of the compound is 132.3g/mol, which indicates that its molecular formula is C8H12O6. This substance has been used in the synthesis of other substances such as picolinic acid, 3-(2-methylpropyl)-5-(4-methylphenyl)thiophene and 4-[(4-methylphenyl)amino]cyclohexanone.
