Description

7-Methyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one is a synthetic compound that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the transfer of anthranilic acid to n-acetylglucosamine. The regioselectivity of this reaction was found to be dependent on the rate of hydrolysis and the pH of the reaction mixture. 7-Methyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one has also been used in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) experiments to identify oxindole derivatives. 7MMDIO has been identified as an impurity in commercially available indole by gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GCMS).
