2-[(4-Methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl)oxy]acetohydrazide (2MOCA) is a staphylococcus bactericide that inhibits the growth of gram negative bacteria. 2MOCA also has antifungal and antibacterial properties, as well as activity against other organisms such as malonic acid producing bacteria. 2MOCA binds to DNA by reacting with the N7 position of guanine in the purine ring, which is an important step for bacterial replication. In addition, 2MOCA inhibits electron transfer between NADH and FMN, which is necessary for ATP synthesis in bacteria. This drug also has molecular descriptors that include solvents and choline.
