- N2-methyl-3-nitropyridin-2-amine
N-Methyl-3-nitropyridin-2-amine is a cyclic amine that is an efficient electrophilic partner in nucleophilic substitution reactions. It has been shown to react with a variety of carbon nucleophiles, such as pyridines and quinoxalines, to form substituted pyridines and quinoxalines. N-Methyl-3-nitropyridin-2-amine also reacts efficiently with anionic heterocycles such as oxazoles and thiazoles, forming the corresponding bicyclic compounds. In addition, NMPN can be used to synthesize dihydropyridines by reacting with ethyl cyanoacetate or methyl cyanoacetate. This compound is neutral at physiological pH due to its basic nitrogen atom, which allows it to react with various functional groups without the need for activation by protic solvents.
