1-Methyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxamide is a potent cytotoxic compound that inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in mammalian cells. It is a section of the class of compounds known as pyrazolones. The compound has been shown to inhibit the activity of nematodes and haemonchus, which are parasites that infect animals. 1-Methyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxamide has also been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. 1-Methyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxamide induces cellular modifications that lead to apoptosis, including DNA fragmentation, chromatin condensation, and activation of caspase 3.
