Product Information
- 2,3-pyridinediamine
- N~3~-methyl-
- 2,3-pyridinediamine, N~3~-methyl-
N3Methylpyridine-2,3-diamine is a synthetic ligand that has been shown to have antimitotic activity. It binds to the benzyl group of DNA and prevents the binding of other molecules, such as ATP or NADH, which are required for cell division. This compound also inhibits inotropic activity; however, it does not inhibit the production of cAMP by adenylate cyclase. N3Methylpyridine-2,3-diamine has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor at phosphine sites on DNA. N3Methylpyridine-2,3-diamine can be synthesized from 2-chloropyridinium chloride and an amine. The reaction requires acetonitrile as a solvent and yields this product in 85% yield with only three steps.
