Description:
8-Methoxyquinoline-5-sulfonyl chloride is a fluorescent derivative of 8-methoxyquinoline. It reacts with proton, ethyleneimine and other nucleophiles to form sulfonium salts. 8-Methoxyquinoline-5-sulfonyl chloride has been used as a probe in the study of amines. The deshielding effect of the substituents on the nitrogen atom can be seen in its spectra and can be used to determine the number of substituents that are present on an amine.
