Description:
8-Methoxy-2H-chromene-3-carbonitrile is a synthetic antibacterial agent with a broad spectrum of activity. It is an oxadiazole derivative that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This binding prevents the synthesis of proteins, leading to cell death. 8-Methoxy-2H-chromene-3-carbonitrile has been shown to inhibit tyrosine kinase and inhibit proliferation in human tumor cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit phosphorylation reactions.
