Methyl 1-methylcyclopentanecarboxylate (M1CPC) is a formic acid derivative that is used as a catalyst in the production of methyl esters. This compound can be used to produce cyclohexene, which is an important precursor for the production of esters. Methyl 1-methylcyclopentanecarboxylate has been shown to increase the yields and selectivity of methyl esters.
