Product Information
Methyl 4-hydroxy-1H-indole-2-carboxylate is a compound that inhibits the life cycle of HIV by binding to the enzyme HIV reverse transcriptase, which prevents the copying of viral RNA into DNA. It has been shown to inhibit hepatitis C virus replication by binding to the viral polymerase and preventing nucleic acid synthesis. Methyl 4-hydroxy-1H-indole-2-carboxylate also binds to other enzymes, such as NS5B polymerase, which are involved in various stages of the virus life cycle. The crystal structure of methyl 4-hydroxy-1H-indole-2-carboxylate bound to NS5B polymerase was determined using xray crystallography. This inhibitor can be used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C infection.
