Description:
5-Methyl-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylic acid (5MOTDC) is a synthetic benzyl compound. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by interacting with thiourea and pyrimidine carboxylic acid. This interaction modulates the activity of enzymes in the bladder that are involved in the metabolism of certain drugs or other substances. 5MOTDC also inhibits bacterial cell division by alkylating DNA and is an antimicrobial that has been shown to be effective against many types of bacteria.
