1-Methoxy-2-naphthoic acid is an ionizable, functional compound that reacts with hydrogen to form a chelate ring. The reaction mechanism for this process is intramolecular hydrogen bonding. 1-Methoxy-2-naphthoic acid can bind to dopamine receptors and has been shown to block the action of dopamine in the brain by inhibiting its reuptake.
