Methyl 2,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate is an isomeric chromanone that has a methoxy group in the 3-position. The most common isomer of methyl 2,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate is known as methylethyl benzoate. Methyl 2,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate has been found to be a potent platelet aggregating agent that causes excessive clotting of blood. This compound also causes hemolysis and inhibits the synthesis of DNA and proteins. Methyl 2,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate is a synthetic compound that can be obtained by refluxing nature with methanol and sulfuric acid.
