Description

4-Methyl-2-pyridin-4-yl-1,3-thiazole-5-carboxylic acid is a coordination compound with a coordination number of six. It is selective for sulfide ions and has been used to selectively adsorb mercury on a gold surface. This ligand has been used in the synthesis of frameworks, which are isomorphous with zeolites. It has also been used in the preparation of magnetic materials by coupling with ferric nitrate. 4MPT is an amorphous neutral molecule that can be used to prepare compounds for analysis using techniques such as XRD and NMR.
