Description:

4-Methylquinolin-2-ol is a synthetic compound. It has fluorescence properties and can be used as a fluorescent probe. 4-Methylquinolin-2-ol reacts with metal ions to form a complex dipole, which can then be detected by its fluorescence properties. The reaction of 4-methylquinolin-2-ol with halides forms an alkylating agent that can be used in the synthesis of other organic compounds. It is also used in the synthesis of quinoline derivatives, such as 4-hydroxyquinoline, which are used in the manufacture of rubber and plastics.
