- Benzo[b]thiophene-2-carboxylic acid, 3-amino-, methyl ester
Methyl 3-amino-1-benzothiophene-2-carboxylate is a phenylpiperazine that has affinity for the 5-HT7 receptor. It has been shown to be a selective agonist of the 5-HT7 receptor, which is an important serotonergic receptor protein. Methyl 3-amino-1-benzothiophene-2-carboxylate was also found to be a potent and selective agonist at the 5HT1A receptor. The compound showed no activity at other serotonin receptors, including 5HT1B, 5HT2A, and 5HT2C. This study validated the idea that methyl 3-amino-1 benzothiophene 2 carboxylate could be used as a lead structure for designing drugs with selective serotonin receptor binding properties.
