7-Methoxy-1-benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid (7MBFC) is an anion that belongs to the group of heterocycles. It has been shown to have cytotoxic activity against cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. 7MBFC inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to their nuclei and interfering with DNA synthesis. In addition, 7MBFC is a potent inhibitor of drug efflux pumps, which are proteins that pump drugs out of the cell before they can exert their effects. 7MBFC also inhibits protein synthesis and induces apoptosis in cancer cells.
