Description

4-Methyl-6-(methylthio)-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine is a chemical that is used in the activation of thiosemicarbazide. It is a weak acid and can be used to activate thiosemicarbazide in acidic conditions. 4-Methyl-6-(methylthio)-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine has been shown to inhibit Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases through the inhibition of amyloid precursor protein (APP) processing. This chemical has also been shown to have affinity for binding with a number of pharmaceutical formulations and has been used in the optimization of multilayer pharmaceutical formulations.
