MPP dihydrochloride is an amp-activated protein phosphatase inhibitor. It inhibits the protein phosphatase that dephosphorylates cAMP, which is a key regulator in cellular signaling. MPP dihydrochloride also has an inhibitory effect on microglia and decreases blood pressure in animal models. MPP dihydrochloride has been shown to inhibit cancer cells by inducing apoptosis, which may be due to its ability to induce autophagy and inhibit apoptotic signaling.
